Quick Facts  -   Metal Roofing Systems

bulletTwo major classifications are Architectural and Structural.
bulletArchitectural: These systems are designed for appearance.  Typically, they are used only on steep slopes of 3"/foot slope or greater.  Architectural metal roofing systems need solid under support and use underlayment felts for additional "waterproofing."  Materials used are generally lighter gauge metals of 24-26 gauge.
bulletStructural:  These systems are used on low slope roofs.  They can include a separate structure and are generally insulated with fiberglass batts.  Materials used are generally heavier gauge steel, depending on the design.
bulletThe two major types of metal roofs are Corrugated and Standing Seam Metal Roofing Systems.
